What you'll learn

Nobody talks like a textbook. So why do you? Correct English is not the same as natural English. "Good morning. How are you?" is correct — but real people say "Hey, how's it going?"

In this episode, Maya and Leo give you six small swaps that take your English from stiff and textbook-like to smooth and natural: real greetings, contractions ("I'm" not "I am"), short simple words, friendly fillers ("well," "you know" — seasoning, not soup), collocations (word pairs that always travel together), and friendly connectors ("by the way," "anyway"). You'll also learn the formality ladder — when to be casual and when to step up — plus intonation and rhythm, a live textbook-vs-natural demo, the textbook detector self-test, and five tiny phrases to steal tomorrow: "Got it." "No idea." "That makes sense." "Sounds good." "I'm on my way."

Made for intermediate learners (CEFR B1–B2).
