What you'll learn

"Sorry." One word, said too fast, fixing nothing. A real apology is a four-part craft — and today you learn it.

In this episode, Maya and Leo give you the four-part apology: own it, name the feeling, fix it with action, prevent it. You'll learn the difference between "sorry," "excuse me," and "pardon," when to use "I apologize" in formal and written contexts, the over-apologizing disease ("thanks for your patience" vs "sorry for the delay"), the non-apologies to never use ("I am sorry if I offended you" — the little "if" erases the whole apology), apologizing at work — private, prompt, with a plan, the repair menu that turns mistakes into loyalty, when they will not forgive you, two demos (the lost client file, the cancelled dinner), written apologies that carry weight, accepting an apology gracefully, and the British "sorry."

Made for intermediate learners (CEFR B1–B2).
